Dan-Wood Property
Video & Photography
I’m always interested when I get new enquiries for commercial property photography. I was recently commissioned to photograph a property in Dorset that has a completely different build ethos to what we’re traditionally used to in the UK.
Dan-Wood House are a turnkey property construction company that specialise in prefabricated homes. Clients select one of their many modern housing designs from their brochure, which is then built in their factory in Poland and transferred and assembled on site in as little as three days. Many clients can expect to be living in their home within six weeks, which was the case with this Dorset property.
I was commissioned to photograph the house and to interview the homeowners for a sales and marketing video. Knowing it would be a full day’s work, I decided to begin with the property photography. This would give the owners, Bill and Nicola, a chance to get used to my presence before I interviewed them for the marketing video. I wanted them to feel comfortable and talk freely about their experience, which I could then edit to concisely draw out the unique selling points for Dan-Wood.
Arriving at their home, we quickly established which rooms I would photograph. Respecting the privacy of their teenagers’ bedrooms, I could instead focus on interesting features in the communal areas. I also brought along my drone to capture outside overhead shots and motion clips of the house, to give an understanding of the original plot of land and how the house fits into the overall site.
Details
While photographing the rooms, I paid attention to energy saving features such as the air source heat pump system, and interesting furnishings and finishes to show the quality of the materials. We were fortunate to have a bright, sunny day which was great for interior photography, and in post-production I could further edit for the best colour and lighting.
Here is the final film which shows Bill and Nicola’s beautiful new home, and their positive experience of using Dan-Wood House.
It was a really interesting commission, and I’m looking forward to seeing Dan-Wood House gain more exposure in the UK.
