Reef & Beef Restaurant Photography
Reef & Beef seafood and steak restaurant in St Ives, commissioned me to photograph their menu and interiors during an evening of service. This proved to be a fun and dynamic shoot, adapting to the flow of the restaurant and customer orders.
To minimise my presence, we set up a dining scene in a corner of Reef & Beef that was close to the kitchens. From here, I could photograph the dishes as soon as they left the kitchen, and not disrupt the customers. I carefully lit and set the table so that meals could be placed, quickly photographed and continue on to the diners, all within the flow of service.
I have a lot of commercial photography experience setting scenes within restaurants and properties. On this shoot I interchanged drinks and photographed dishes from different angles to create some variety within the same scene.
I photographed some dishes from overhead, capturing the dramatic shadows from the lighting I had rigged, and the artistry of the chef’s plating.
In other images, I focussed on close ups of the meals, particularly the seafood dishes, to show the quality of the mussels and lobster.
